West Virginia Radio Corporation owns stations in four separate areas in the state of West Virginia:
At present, the three largest markets in the state what West Virginia Radio does not presently operate are Huntington, Wheeling, and Beckley. There have been recent suggestions within the West Virginia broadcasting community that West Virginia Radio may enter the Beckley market by purchasing some or all of the Southern Communications stations.[1] West Virginia Radio was also suggested as a likely purchaser of Clear Channel Communications' Wheeling and Huntington clusters.
Charleston's WCHS as well as Morgantown's WAJR and WVAQ are consistently the highest or near-highest rated stations in their respective markets.
West Virginia Radio Corporation operates the "West Virginia Metro News" Network, which is owned by parent company Greer Industries.
"West Virginia Metro News" features on-the-hour news, political and sports talk programs, along with West Virginia University Mountaineer sports, via the company's "Mountaineer Sports Network" or "MSN". "MSN" shows are syndicated to television stations across the state.
All news and programs from "West Virginia Metro News" are offered to all WVRC stations and to other stations throughout the state whether they are owned by WVRC or not.
